The Geometry of Clarity
Our 32’x 24’ Live Room with a 22-foot-high vaulted ceiling was engineered following the Golden Acoustic Ratio. Designed to capture the full, uncompressed dynamic range of any instrument, the room provides the amount of air necessary for sound to truly breathe and bloom through space. These proportions naturally reduce standing waves and room modes.
Whether you are recording a solo piano, a chamber ensemble, a full drum kit, horn section or big band, the room enhances natural resonances and gives your performance a character that digital reverbs and plug-ins simply cannot replicate.
For productions requiring separation, the tracking room connects to three spacious isolation booths with ample sight lines for all musicians.
The Advantage of a High Vaulted Ceiling
Height is one of the most important assets of this space since the sound can travel further before it reflects. This is a game-changer for overhead miking, allowing you to capture the rich, airy detail of an instrument while keeping the recordings clear and focused.
You won’t feel the need to “push” to fill the room. Even through headphones, the natural resonance creates an immersive monitoring experience that feels alive.
This tracking room isn’t just a recording space, it is tuned like an instrument. Our variable acoustic system allows us to dial in a decay going from 0.4 to 1 second. This helps us find the right “feel” for your project by controlling how “wet or dry” the room should be for your production & performing comfort.
Specialized Diffusion, Absorption & Polarization
Schroeder Diffusion (QRD):
Our 32’×24′ footprint is equipped with Quadratic Residue Diffusers to break up harsh reflections. This improves clarity and creates a natural, spacious sound in the performance space.
Helmholtz Absorption:
The room features integrated panel resonators designed to manage low-frequency energy. By neutralizing standing waves, these absorbers ensure the deep “growl” of a Steinway remains tight and defined.
Acoustic Polarization & Path Control:
The 22-foot vault is shaped to control the path of the sound. By directing how waves travel through the room, we preserve the integrity of the instrument, giving your recording a deep, spacious, and stable sound stage.
Light, Volume & Space
The studio is open to nature and maintains a direct connection to outside views, creating a comfortable atmosphere for long sessions.

Three Steinways
We are proud to offer a world-class selection of three uniquely voiced Steinway grand pianos, maintained exclusively for recording. A full climate-controlled environment promotes the instruments’ stability year-round. From deep and woody to bright and clear, you choose the specific tone that fits your project.
Paired with a top-tier microphone locker and premium digital and analog preamps, we provide the technical transparency required to capture your performance exactly how it sounds in the room without concessions.
Frequently asked questions
What are the acoustic specifications of the main recording room?
The main tracking room measures 32’×24′ with 22′ high vaulted ceiling. Following the Golden Acoustic Ratio, this volume naturally reduces standing waves and room modes. Our variable acoustic system allows us to dial in a decay going from 0.4 to 1 second.
Can the room acoustics be adjusted for different projects?
Yes. Our variable acoustic system allows us to dial in the right “feel” for your project by controlling how wet or dry the room should be for your production and performing comfort. The tracking room also connects to three spacious isolation booths for productions requiring separation.
What microphones and preamps are available for recording?
Our microphone locker includes Neumann M149 Tube, Brauner VMA Tube, Josephson C700S, Schoeps Decca Tree, DPA matched pairs, Coles 4038, and Royer R-122V among others. Preamps include D.W. Fearn VT-2, Millennia HV-3D, Neve 5211, and John Hardy M-1. The full signal chain is anchored by Merging Technologies Horus & Hapi converters.
What monitoring system does the studio use?
The control room is equipped with Klinger Favre Audio Studio 17 UT speakers, Master DAC and Amplifier. Our audiophile listening room features Klinger Favre Studio 38 and D66 UT speakers, Master Amplifiers, Aurender streamers, and a Dr. Feickert Woodpecker turntable for analog reference..
Why does ceiling height matter?
Height allows sound to travel further before it reflects. This is a game-changer for overhead miking, it captures the rich, airy detail of an instrument while keeping recordings clear and focused. Space adds a color, a character that digital reverbs and plug-ins simply cannot replicate. Even through headphones, the natural resonance creates an immersive monitoring experience that feels live.
Feed Backs
The process encourages retakes, allowing the audience to witness a vulnerable artistic process. In addition, there is an interview process that reveals the motivations and specifics of how the musicians think about what it is they do. This process promotes an atmosphere of sharing and understanding between artist and spectator rarely broached in traditional performance. The result is not didactic but rather an organic, generous, and imminently human experience." It was a wonderful experience; the intimacy of the performance situation and sound of the studio was a real pleasure. Hope to be able to return!
